Turning ashes into jewelry

So, how did I get to being a silversmith that incorporates cremation ashes into jewelry?  Like many of you, I had a close friend that died much too soon.  I was gifted a small amount of her ash.   Just putting the ashes on the shelf seemed sad and boring for such an adventurous soul.   The urn jewelry I came across online was the kind you filled and screwed the top on.   And with my law enforcement background, that just looked like a place to keep drugs..  So sad, but true.   I wanted a tangible, yet discreet, secure and durable way to keep a little bit of her close so we could still share the adventures together.  It had to be durable and stand up to everyday wear, sunshine and water.   So, I signed up for a metalsmithing class, and figured out a way to compress and seal cremation ashes securely within layers of precious metal.

And then I made cremation jewelry from the ashes I had of my pets.  Each one a little different to bring out and celebrate their unique qualities.  It was a way to still feel a bond and celebrate the love we share.  ...And I try to channel their awesomeness. :)

I'm one of those problem-solving types.  I want to help people in crisis, so I decided to build a small home studio to create truly unique cremation jewelry and keepsakes for others grieving the loss of their loved one, person or pet.

The features that were most important for me were high quality fine jewelry with exquisite beauty in a natural, organic way.   The cremation ashes are secure and discreet.   The hammered ring was the first ring I made and is still the best seller.  It works well for both men and women.

If you are looking for a tangible reminder that your loved one's soul is always with you, take a look at my cremation jewelry and see if it calls to you.  I'd be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
